Dr. ROBERT J. SVARE

P.E. - CFI - BEE - MSIE - PHD

Dr. Svare is a licensed Master Electrician, Electrical Contractor, Professional Electrical Engineer and educator who has been involved in the practice of forensic engineering since 1976. He is a graduate of the Brown Institute of Industrial Electronics and has Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and Doctorate degrees in Vocational Education from the University of Minnesota and a Master of Science in Industrial Education from St. Cloud University of Minnesota. He is also an IAAI Certified Fire Investigator. Bob's hands-on experience as an electrician, scene investigator and legal fire setter has qualified him as an expert in all levels of court, from arbitration through federal, and he is listed as an expert witness by the United States Department of Justice. His natural teaching ability makes him a much sought after speaker for a wide variety of world audiences, from IAAI seminars to in-depth classes at the US ATF National Academy.

Barb Novak

Barb has been with SPE since 1988 and currently holds the role of office manager, being the central "hub" for all primary communications between the clients and engineers. Barb is fully conversant with all case work and is able to assist clients with a multitude of inquiries should the relevant engineer not be available. Barb worked for Golden Valley, Minnetonka, and Hopkins Police Departments over a period of 12 years. Trained as a legal assistant, she also worked for the prosecution department for the law firm of LeFevre, Lefler, Kennedy & O'Brien, LLP.

MARK SVARE

P.E. - B.E.E. - Master Electrician

Mark Svare is a licensed Master Electrician and Electrical Contractor, and Professional Electrical engineer who has been involved in Forensic Engineering since 1990. He has a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Minnesota. He is also a veteran of the United States Navy, where he served as an Electronic Warfare Specialist on board the U.S.S. Briscoe DD977. While in the Navy, Mark has served in regions such as South America, Europe and Mediterranean Countries.  Mark has taught numerous electrical courses for international, U.S. federal, state, local and private organizations, including the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms Advanced Fire Investigation program located at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center – Brunswick, Georgia. Mark's practical experience and hands-on approach to investigations has qualified him as an electrical expert in both U.S. federal and state courts.

MATTHEW DUBBIN

P.E. - B.S.E.E.

Matthew Dubbin has been active in the field of consulting and forensic engineering since 1995. He graduated from St. Cloud State University in Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering.
Mr. Dubbin has taught numerous electrical investigation classes for the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension as well as other state, local and private organizations.
Mr. Dubbin's investigations include examinations of electrical equipment failures, electric shock, electrocution and fires.
